A false evacuation alarm has precipitated dramatic scenes in the course of the Collingwood-Adelaide AFL conflict on the MCG.
Lower than one minute into the second quarter, a message was performed over the PA system instructing all patrons to instantly evacuate the venue.
Umpires stopped the match and gamers gathered in crew huddles in the midst of the bottom as followers started heading for the exits.
About 4 minutes later a second message was performed, clarifying the preliminary evacuation order was a false alarm.
Collingwood led the match 5.3 (33) to 1.6 (12) when play was halted.
It restarted with a ball-up in Adelaide’s ahead line.
